ABOUT

A big part of education is having access to new ideas and perspectives. The aim of “Let’s Talk About It” is to open a wider view for the students, in all aspects, whether it be specific subject matters, useful tips, global citizenship, values etc. The talk is focused on giving students an opportunity to listen to amazing individuals with good ideas, experiences, and perspectives to share. It is a means for students to be able to use this opportunity as an inspiration for their self-growth.

PREVIOUS SPEAKERS

Tyler Newman

Tyler Newman is an 19-year-old incoming freshman at Stanford University. She is a lover of storytelling, and a believer in the medium’s power to create political and social change. She is the founder of an online platform for women of colour, Afro Puff Chronicles (@afropuffchornicles), which gives women the space to share their experiences through art and writing. She is also a dedicated activist, having received the Princeton Prize in Race Relations for her blog, along with two clubs she founded at her school, Spectrum, a middle school diversity club, and Making the Connection, an alumni-student mentorship program. Tyler has served as a teen consultant for both Instagram and Facebook, speaking to hundreds of publications such as Buzzfeed, Refinery29, CNN, and The New York Times. Harbouring a wide array of interests, Tyler is passionate about writing, film, and “artivism”. Most of all, Tyler loves to mentor and inspire younger students to express themselves through creativity!

Belinda Hu

Belinda Hu graduated as the Dux of St Cuthbert’s College in 2020. She was 1 of 4 individuals in New Zealand that scored a full score of 45 in IB(the International Baccalaureate). She now majors in Engineering and Commerce at Sydney University in Australia.

Winnie Wu

Winnie attended St. Cuthbert's from 2005 to 2011 (Y7-Y13) and attended the University of Auckland for one semester (B.A. / B.E. conjoint program) before moving to the US and graduating with a B.A. from Harvard College in 2016 (major in Computer Science, minor in Fine Arts). She is now a software engineer at Stripe, a fintech company.
